“The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg says Democrats are coming for the 72 million Americans who own guns in this country as the nation recovers from the mass shooting at a Texas elementary school.
“They’re going to come for those AR-15’s, and you better get ready to give them up because this is America,” Goldberg shouted into the camera.
Goldberg is right to be angry over gun violence but taking away guns from legal gun owners is not the answer. Legal guns owners are in large part the most law abiding citizens in America. The overwhelming majority of gun crimes are committed with illegal guns.
What Whoopi and other Democrat apologists like her fails to realize is that Americans have Second Amendment rights. You don’t get to take that right away because you’re upset over someone who misused a gun.
The faulty cause and effect attacks on conservatives have to stop. This is not about conservatives inciting violence. It’s about one person who had a mental breakdown and chose to deal with it with a gun. But Democrats seem to only be interested in punishing law abiding citizens, whether it makes any difference regarding future shootings or not.
Could something be done to help? Sure, but the best solution is not taking away gun rights. Instead, it’s about securing schools so a bad actor cannot get onto the premises to do harm to children and teachers.

There are lots of people who would agree. She has to realize that for every law-abiding citizen who owns a gun, there are two criminals who have illegal guns, including machine guns and AR-15’s. If the penalties for illegal guns were enforced there would be fewer guns and certainly less crime.
