President Trump towered over everyone at the Iowa State Fair last weekend. Some other candidates went to the fair, in which they were hoping to connect with voters and maybe even increase their support in the race to try to unseat Donald Trump. It… didn’t go as expected for them.
Ron DeSantis had probably the worst time at the fair. He was met with chants of “We Want Trump!” and “We Love Trump!” everywhere he went. At one point, an airplane flying a banner that read “Be Nicer, Ron!” flew over as he was speaking.
This could have been a big opportunity for Vivek “Ramalamadingdong” Ramaswamy to gain some ground on DeSantis, but unfortunately, the overly optimistic little guy is a bit on the weird side. When it was his turn to come on stage and say a few words with Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds next to him, the man who uses every opportunity to remind folks he’s a millennial suddenly started singing an Eminem rap song that’s 20-some years old.
Aside from the fact that it was cringe-inducing, it was also confusing to most of the audience. Ramalamadingdong’s campaign consultants didn’t think that one through very well. Eminem? Rap? At the Iowa State Fair?
Eminem, of course, is the irrelevant rapper who hasn’t had a hit in years, and who mostly spends his days making anti-Trump rants on social media. He’s not exactly a star that any Trump supporter connects to.
