Summer Smith of CDLife reports that truckers across the country are refusing to deliver to cities that defund police.
Smith noted that the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows truck drivers have the deadliest job in the U.S. After spending the first part of 2020 at the front line of the COVID19 pandemic and BLM protests, many truckers say they are “fearful of what might happen if police departments disband or are defunded.”
CDLife asked truckers, “Would you pick up/deliver to cities with defunded or disbanded police departments? Why or why not?” and the response was overwhelming. 79% said they would refuse to take loads bound for cities that have defunded or disbanded police departments.
Comments from some replying to the survey include:
I will not deliver to an area with a disbanded police department. My life matters and I do this for my family. We are already at the mercy of these towns and cities with laws and hate against us for parking, getting a meal or even using a restroom.
Most places we go already can be dicey and about only time you see a cop is when lights is on behind you.
The Associated Press reports that a decisive majority of members sitting on the Minneapolis City Council have announced their intention to support for disbanding the city’s police department.

As far as I’m concerned no one should go into a city with the city police disbanded. If you live there, it’s time to move to a real town with a fully functional police department. I live in Lake county fl and we love the cops here. No riots, looting, or stupid people trashing property. Safe is #1.
