Students Refuse to Cheer on Team USA in the Olympics

With the Olympic opening ceremonies right around the corner, Campus Reform reporter Ophelie Jacobson went to the University of South Florida to ask students who they plan on cheering for during the Olympic Games.

Surprisingly, many students told Jacobson that they weren’t planning on rooting for Team USA, but rather, for individual athletes. “I’m not going to be rooting for any team just because it’s some country that I live in…because the truth is, patriotism shouldn’t be that strong,” one student said.

Another student said “if you would’ve asked me in the last administration, maybe not.”

One student said, “I don’t like being an American either, even though I was born here. I think there is such corruption and a crumbling infrastructure, like why is there no free health care? Why are so many people suffering because of housing?”

Another said, “The Olympics is going to be used for politics,” and flat out answered the question of whether the U.S. is the greatest country with, “No, I don’t.”

America-hating appears to be all the rage on college campuses across the country, even as the nation enters the Summer Olympic Games. Even if we win in the Games, it appears we’ve already lost at home when it comes to respect for our country.

  1. if they don’t like the USA, then get the h… out of here. Go to some foreign country that dies under socialism or communism. The younger generations have been taught hate with misinformation for way too many years now. It will come back to bite them at some point in their lives and they’ll cry their eyes out. F em

    1. Go Team USA. If you turn your back on my Country or disrespect
My American Flag – Get the hell-out and don’t come back

  2. Let’s trade all these America hating spoiled brats for freedom loving Cubans. That’s an idea I could really support.

    1. Great idea. I lived and worked outside of the U. S. during my lifetime and actually seen what life is like in socialist countries. Believe me, these misinformed spoiled brats don’t have a clue! But they’ve been too brainwashed to ever accept the truth out in the real world.

    2. i agree, let them live in a country where they really do not have freedom and see how well they get on.

  3. I no longer care to watch the Olympics. There are so many American athlete that seem to hate our country, that I have no interest in watching these fools. My heart goes out to the young men and women that are proud to represent America for the freedoms , opportunities, and values, but I have a feeling they will be the ones that will be ignored, while the rabble-rousing punks that hate our country, will be the focus! That’s why I can’t watch the Olympics anymore!

  4. The young people are right about the courupt in this country the ones in white house are the blame so don’t put our Country down because of the courupt ones l will always stand for America and the good people

  5. This country is in terrible trouble these fools are the next generation. A bunch of spoiled brats living in their parents basements. The men and women who gave their lives for this country are spinning in their graves. God help the USA.

  6. Instead of bringing in all illegals by plane all over the United States, give America haters a one way ticket out of the United States. Maybe they would be happier without freedom.

  7. Maybe if all these whining kids were required to spend a semester in a third world country, they would see how good it really is to be an American. All they want is free free free! Join the military! Get a job! Pull your weight!!

  8. When these ‘useful idiots’ proudly say they don’t like the USA and it’s not a good country WHY don’t these reporters ask them: “What is a better country?” or “What country do you feel would be better for you to live in that would give you more opportunity?” —God! What are these people learning in these schools and through what prism are they viewing life…?

    1. I immigrated to the US from China in the 1980s. I always regard the US as the greatest country in the world. It saddens greatly when I see so many young people here dislike this country and so many young people in China defend their government. Neither group has a good idea of what other countries are like compared to their own.

  9. Maybe we need to implement a little nugget refusing to allow their education until their family pays the required fines for school attendance like some countries do. Make it real and stop giving it away…then we’ll see what these whining turds are capable of when they have to work for it. Maybe then a little appreciation for why the Proud USA is where everyone want to be!

  10. I am sick and tired of these spoiled kids. What should be done is after graduating from H.S., each and every one will have spend 3 months in military training or helping people in third world countries. If nothing else, they will be in better shape and hopefully, respect their country. Of coarse, this depends on whether our military is not WOKE.

  11. Same school that had 2 of the 9/11 terrorist enrolled. Those of us who live in the area call it a safe haven for terrorist
