Police unions are one of the last remaining public sector labor unions that has not been converged by the communist leftwing of the Democrat Party. And that is the sole reason why the Democrats now want to “defund the police.” Why should any of those sweet, sweet tax dollars be used for something other than funding the Democrat Party, or, for example, advancing leftwing causes.
Even if they manage to defund police departments in major cities, there will still be police.
It’s just that the “new and reimagined” policing will be under the control of Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi. This will be really helpful in preventing stuff that makes the Democrats look bad being made public, while making the police forces a partisan tool for the Democrats.
For example, if police unions were under the control of the Democrat Party, the Chicago PD would still be trying to track down those Trump-supporting, MAGA hat-wearing, Chicago Klansmen who poured bleach on Jussie Smollett. And Kamala Harris wouldn’t look like a total moron for falling for the obvious Jussie Smollett hoax. See how that trick works?
Cops also want to just do their jobs and maintain law and order, but to do that, they need powerful public officials to have their backs — which the Democrats clearly don’t.
