Twitter’s new CEO is – shockingly – just as authoritarian if not more than his predecessor, Jack Dorsey.
Dorsey stepped down on Monday from the company he co-founded 16 years ago. The new CEO used his first day to add a new level of censorship, limiting the sharing of images and videos unless a user permits others to do so.
Limiting? Yes. Surprising? No. Twitter’s new CEO Parag Agrawal has a history of speaking out in favor of strong censorship on social media. And it’s not like he’s a new hire. The new CEO has been at Twitter for a decade, helping with many of the restrictions used to suspend, block, shadow ban and outright banish conservative points of view.
Former President Donald Trump was the biggest name to be banished, but he’s not alone. Many conservatives have been booted from the platform, especially in the Draconian aftermath of both COVID and Jan. 6.
Don’t be surprised if your conservative point of view started facing more restrictions if you’re still on Twitter. It may soon become the CNN of social media, claiming to be a great platform for all but really serving only one spectrum of (liberal) users.
