The Democrats have been trying to ram a highly controversial media bill through Congress which would give the legacy media more power while simultaneously squashing independent journalism.
Meta has threatened that if the bill, known as the Journalism Competition and Preservation Act, is passed they will respond by removing ALL news from Facebook.
The bill would supercharge already powerful media companies by creating what Meta describes as a “cartel-like entity.”
In essence, the bill allows for media powerhouses to get together and demand that social media companies pay them to host their content – even if nobody wants to see it.
The effort by congressional Democrats to pass this bill would bring America one step closer towards full-blown communism as the government would be deciding what media outlets people are shown on social media, while incentivizing them to continue pushing pro-Democrat propaganda.
Meta has said if this legislation is passed they “will be forced to consider removing news from our platform altogether rather than submit to government-mandated negotiations that unfairly disregard any value we provide to news outlets through increased traffic and subscriptions.”
“No company should be forced to pay for content users don’t want to see and that’s not a meaningful source of revenue,” they added, calling this a “terrible precedent for all American businesses.”
