Part-time Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg had an interesting response to the Ohio train catastrophe that happened in East Palestine on his watch. He blamed President Trump for it.
Actually, he also kind of blamed the people of East Palestine, because most of them voted for Trump.
Buttigieg took a very brief pause from nancing around in his garden last week to head to East Palestine, but only after Trump embarrassed him by getting there first to actually help the people. Trump brought bottles of water for the people. Buttigieg snuck into town before dawn, and was back on a plane before lunchtime, but only after taking the time to wander around wearing a hard hat for some photo ops.
Mayor Pete then told the cameras, if people didn’t want to see trains wreck and spill toxic chemicals into the air and water like that, then they shouldn’t have voted for the previous administration which deregulated the rail industry.
It’s Trump’s fault! Not mine!

There was no regulation to reinstate. The NTSB requested regulation(s) addressing this and the Obama administration refused to act.
