Former Acting Director of the CDC Dr. Richard Besser weighs in on the news by the Biden administration that a fourth booster shot is now being recommended for all adults 50 and over.
Yes, just when you think life is getting back to normal, the CDC announces approval of a fourth shot for Americans 50 and above. For those who have already played along for three previous shots, one more may not matter much, but for many, including Besser, the news is too much for him to hold back from speaking out.
Besser says that rather than listening to general advice from the CDC that the best plan is to talk with your own doctor. For many over 50, there is no need for another shot. If your doctor has specific reasons it could help, however, that’s another story.
It seems like the Biden administration rolls out a new vaccine booster about every 6 months. At this rate, by the time he leaves office at the beginning of 2025, Americans will have gotten 10 booster shots. Does that seem ridiculous to anyone else?
Besser also expressed his concern with much of the secrecy involving the vaccine research details and decision making. During his time in leadership, he said the decisions were much more public and involved widespread representation from a variety of groups. Now it’s unclear how decisions are being made, giving the appearance of being political motivated or showing bias.
