Biden’s Build Back Better Spending Bill is Dead

We’ve all seen that dreamy, messianic look that animated President Biden’s face when he talked about his “Build Back Better” multi-trillion-dollar spending bill. Americans owe a debt of gratitude to Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia for opposing the bill, which would have plunged the country even deeper into debt and made the already bad inflation worse.

Senator Manchin teamed up with another clear-eyed Democrat, Krysten Sinema from Arizona. Joining every Republican in the Senate, they held the line and dashed Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi’s hopes to send voters more inflated government money before the midterm elections.

Could any of the spending bill be salvaged? Perhaps, according to Former White House Deputy Chief of Staff and Fox News contributor Karl Rove. Senator Manchin might support the child credit provisions that dole out monthly tax-break checks to parents.

But there’s a catch: Manchin would only support the tax break if there were work requirements and family income caps included. What are the chances of those requirements passing left-wing tax-and-spend Democrat nanny state advocates? (Spoiler alert: Zip, zero, nada.)

Senator Manchin seems to realize something his fellow Democrats just can’t seem to fathom: sinking the country deeper into debt and further devaluing the dollar isn’t the way to protect our economy and living standards. In fact, polls show that 67% of Americans disapprove of how President Biden is handling the economy.

In fact, Senator Manchin reminds us of a motto/priority statement another Democrat, Bill Clinton, used to go by: “It’s the economy, stupid.”
