This past September, Lee Edwards, Ph.D., writing for The Heritage Foundation, warned of The Looming Threat of a Socialist America. This is an important warning Republicans would be stupid to ignore. Because while the GOP won a lot of seats in the House and cut down on Democrats majority in Congress, a new study shows the Democrats that did win their races were ALL socialists.
In fact, the socialist Democrats DOMINATED this past election.
In New York, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez didn’t just hold off her well-known Latina challenger, CNBC anchor Michelle Caruso-Cabrera, she trounced her, winning 74.6 percent of the vote. Representative Rashida Tlaib easily beat Detroit City Council president Brenda Jones, 66.3 percent to 33.7 percent. And, embattled Ilhan Omar won her Minnesota primary with 57.4%Q over well-funded Antone Melton-Meaux.
Edwards warns, “Given the electoral gains cited above, are we certain that a socialist America is impossible—especially when 70 percent of Millennials say they would vote for a socialist? We cannot depend on someone else to step forward. We must go on the offensive, disseminating the truth about socialism and the free-enterprise alternative.”
As Edward notes, we cannot depend that today’s leftists schooled voters to agree with Thomas Jefferson that the rights he wrote of in the Declaration of Independence are self-evident.
At that same time, there is much that should encourage conservatives. Republicans had an amazing number of minorities, women, and veterans win office this year. All conservative.
