Greg Kelly at Newsmax TV reports that 71 year-old U.S. Army veteran Lonnie Coffman is a Jan. 6th defendant currently behind bars. Lonnie joins Greg Kelly on Newsmax to discuss his health, regrets, treatment inside the corrections facility, and what’s next for him in court.
If you thought the mistreatment of Americans arrested over the Jan. 6 Capitol protest was being exaggerated, think again. Reports of inmates being beaten in jails by guards, no access to clean water, no access to their medication, being kept from attending religious services are all seemingly true according to inmates.
Months later, Coffman is still behind bars, speaking to Kelly from a jail cell. He has 17 counts against him.
Speaking by phone, he shared concerned about getting his proper medications, being unable to attend religious services and jailers using any and every way possible to block his requests.
Coffman told Kelly that unless you’re vaccinated, the jailers won’t even let you get a haircut in jail, limiting his options in many areas. He said he’s an American, not a terrorist, and he’s in need of help. He sings the National Anthem every night, but isn’t seeing much freedom at the moment.
He’s not the only one either. There are other still behind bars over the Jan. 6 issue and lots of unanswered questions regarding why. Kelly doesn’t answer it all, but he does offer a unique interview with one man still behind bars. Sadly, at a Federal level, a petition would do no good. There are initiatives allowed in 24 of our states, where petitions with sufficient signatures must go before the state legislators, or sometimes directly to the ballots. No such laws exist at the Federal level, otherwise the People would have taken advantage of them decades ago. Now is the time to contact those in leadership in Republican party and in Congress. Contact McDaniel, Chair of NRP, Minority leader McCarthy, Scalise, your own US Representatives and Senators, Democrat or Republican, especially if they are Republican. They need to know we are outraged and want something done to bring justice to those being abused in DC jail.
