It’s a matter of free speech!
That’s what Fox’s Tucker Carlson argues with Dave Rubin, a conservative political commentator whose videos on YouTube have recently been “demonetized” — they’ve been allowed to remain on the video platform, but YouTube (which is owned by Internet behemoth Google) is no longer paying Rubin for their views, just as it’s no longer paying many other conservatives channels for their videos.
Naturally, Google has a ready-made excuse for this outrageous quasi-censorship. The search giant claims that many of these videos contain “violence,” “pornography” or “hate speech,” but one only has to examine many of the clips in question from Rubin, from conservative host Mark Dice or any number of other creators — even including former presidential candidate Ron Paul — to see that Google’s explanation just doesn’t hold water in the majority of cases of this mass demonetization.
It should be noted that Google’s Chairman Eric Schmidt was the senior digital advisor to President Barack Obama in the 2012 election and was even present in the Obama campaign “war room” on Election Night when Obama declared victory — a victory that many in his campaign said was attributable to a superior digital strategy.
With Google and other Silicon Valley firms clearly expressing political bias in favor of globalism and the Democrats, this is becoming a serious enough issue that some conservatives are turning to alternative sources of online payments for financial support, while others are wondering if there needs to be a new conservative-backed competitor to YouTube.
Watch, as Fox’s Carlson gets the story from an obviously upset Dave Rubin.
