You’ve probably seen a lot of chatter online and even on network news claiming that “woke is dead.” It’s not dead, folks. This communist movement has definitely been wounded by the Trump administration choking off taxpayer funds for NGOs and universities. But the wokeness movement is definitely not dead.
Some of the social media channels have learned from their past lessons. Instead of completely blocking and shutting down the channels of right-leaning creators (and making martyrs of them), the channels are simply economically strangling them from behind the scenes.
Jeremy Hambly is one example. Many readers have probably never heard of him. He mostly talks about video games, pop culture, and internet drama on his podcast—and how wokeness has infected so much of pop culture. (Serious question: What was the last GOOD movie you sat through that didn’t have one of the older stars like Tom Cruise or Sylvester Stallone in it?)
The motto of Hambly’s show is “Go Woke, Go Broke.” But the social media channel where he has nearly 2 million followers and supporters is now destroying him behind the scenes. Hambly is concerned that he’ll soon have to fire his entire staff and shut his operation down if he doesn’t bend the knee to the tech overlords.
It’s not outright censorship. But the tech gurus are financially throttling conservative influencers and it’s still happening. Watch the first few minutes of Jeremy explaining what his main social media platform is doing to him:
