The recent defamation judgment against President Donald Trump over a fake incident in the 1990s should scare everyone. A jury in Manhattan found that Trump did not rape the weird advice columnist E. Jean Carroll in the 1990s. At the same time, the jury ruled that Trump defamed Carroll for denying her allegations and awarded her $5 million. It turns out that this case was much shadier than anyone imagined.
The Democrats in the New York legislature passed a bill specifically so this woman could sue Donald Trump. The statute of limitations had expired years ago, even if her story had been true. But when E. Jean Carroll went to the legislature and lobbied for it, they suspended New York’s statute of limitations for just one year so that she could sue him.
She also had zero evidence to back up her claims that Trump had done anything. She posted flirty messages about Donald Trump on her social media channels, after he supposedly raped her. She couldn’t remember when the fake “rape” happened, and she never told a soul about it.
