Why Lady Gaga Didn’t Dis Trump during her Halftime Show

For weeks leading up to Super Bowl 51, speculation on the Internet swirled wildly regarding what Lady Gaga would do for her halftime performance. The speculation didn’t stop at what songs she would perform and how big of a show she would put on, but also if she would say anything about Donald Trump.

Lady Gaga is a well-known Leftist. Her shows includes plenty of political commentary. She is also a known Hillary supporter, having performed at several of her campaign rallies during the election. She’s also worked with former VP Joe Biden on his ‘It’s Up to Us’ campaign to end sexual assault on college campuses.

Most who watched the Super Bowl, even if they are not Lady Gaga fans, have said the performer did an excellent job. Between the choreography, production value, and the ability to entertain without relying on a half dozen “special guests” proved to be impressive.

Knowing what we know about Lady Gaga it was assumed the meat dress wearing, attention seeking performer would not pass up the opportunity to dis Donald Trump in front of the largest television audience of the year.

Ultimately, her opening with the song “God Bless America” may have been her only political stance of the show. But still, with her nearly 15 minutes of performance time and an upcoming tour just announced, why is it she didn’t use her platform to grab another headline and make a political statement? Check out a theory below that we tend to agree with.
