Why James Comey’s Prosecution is Different Than the Trump Witch Hunt

Former FBI Director and Russia hoaxer James Comey now has less than a week left before he has to surrender to the Department of Justice. Comey is being arrested for lying under oath to Congress and obstructing justice in a congressional proceeding. Anyone who thinks this is a tit-for-tat by President Trump against his political enemies is completely wrong.

Every time that Donald Trump was indicted on bogus charges occurred after he announced he was running for reelection in 2022. The Department of Justice under Merrick Garland had to invent “novel” legal theories to charge Trump with crimes, because he hadn’t actually done anything wrong.

James Comey has been indicted by a grand jury that included many liberal voters in the Eastern District of Virginia for lying under oath to Congress. That’s one of our most straightforward and easy-to-understand laws. You can’t lie under oath. No “novel” theory of law needed to be invented for this.

It is frustrating that Comey has been given until October 9 to surrender himself for arrest. When Roger Stone was indicted for the exact same crime, the FBI showed up at his house in a pre-dawn raid and pointed machineguns at him. Why isn’t Comey getting the same treatment?
