Which President had the Best First 100 Days?

Are 100 days all that matters? Fox’s Neil Cavuto interviews Doug Wead, author of the book Game of Thorns: The Inside Story of Hillary Clinton’s Failed Campaign on how President Trump has done in his first 100 days, versus what public and press expectations have been.

Wead is quite correct in his assessment of Trump as compared to past presidents, in that the accomplishments of an American leader in the first 100 days of his term are not necessarily a good indicator of his success overall. In fact, in the case of more than a few presidents, quite the opposite has been true.

Of course, one also has to take into account the fact that Trump has faced a more critical mainstream media establishment than any other president in history, and this has been compounded by extremely high expectations among voters.

Trump made a lot of campaign promises, and he’s been slow to get out of the gate on some of them because of opposition he’s faced in Congress. There have also been accusations of campaign collusion with Russia that caused most Democrats in Congress to refuse to work with the president on issues.

But take a look at all the positive things Trump has made happen just by dint of being a powerful presence and signing executive orders — the economy has rebounded spectacularly, companies are beginning to execute on his “Buy American, Hire American” pledge and illegal immigration has dropped precipitously. Watch as historian Wead explains that the president’s progress can’t simply be measured with a glib soundbite.
