The claim sounds nice, but guess what matters most to those riding the airplane? The skill of the pilot, not the race or gender. Just when you hope United would report its latest innovations in safety, they jump in the deep end of the woke pool and decide the skin color of their pilots is the most important trait for a pilot.
Now we’re going to send hundreds of people at a time through the air at hundreds of miles per hour based on racial justice. We’re all for treating people equally, but shouldn’t safety be the top priority instead of skin color?

I don’t care what skin color they are or what their gender is…..United Airlines owes to their customers to hire the most qualified person to land that plane and keep their customers safe. I will be searching for another airline to fly my family!!!
There goes my United credit card. No more for them. People fly because they expect the airline I’m on has the best and most qualified pilots. Anything less is unacceptable. I will not entrust my life or my families lives to United. Even if they retract this I now don’t trust them!

I think I’m done with airplanes anyway. The last thing we need is Shaq and LeBron driving aircraft with paying customers. Fun times flying from city to city are chapters of the past regardless.
Years ago, flight attendants seemed to be much happier employees than some of the excuses that the airlines will hire today. Always fun when I get up to pee ( I’m 67 years old ) and a 22 year old tells you to hurry up because the seat belt light just came on and that you should hurry back to your seat. I don’t like young kids acting like they know what it is I should be thinking, like the black flight attendant from Spirit airlines who had the couple ( hell, the whole plane) deplaned because she thought that it was so wrong that a two year old was eating yogurt without a mask on.
Sorry folks …….. that incident ( in my humble opinion) was not only ridiculous, but racially motivated as well. Where did that flight attendant get off even THINKING that way. That family should be awarded thousands of dollars for the way they were treated on that plane. And all because some young, hellbent bitch felt like making a scene!! I saw the video, I watched it a few times. That flight attendant should no longer be working as such. I saw NO REASON for that incident to have ever even occurred…
Inasmuch as United airlines and this directive, I quit flying them years ago because any time I did, it was more than an unpleasant experience. Southwest and Alaska still treat their customers with some semblance of respect, but these other carriers have just become plain “mean and nasty”. Go to Hell United Airlines… take Spirit, Delta, and American with you. Yep….. my flying days are probably done

So let’s see here, you hire based on race and gender and place proficiency and qualifications low on the list while OPENLY DISCRIMINATING AGAINST WHITES. Get this clue – the civil rights act outlaws discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, and later sexual orientation and gender identity. This opens the door for plenty of lawsuits. United should be ashamed for even saying. I can understand if they emphasized hiring for increased diversity. However, they should be hiring the best candidates for the job regardless of their ethnicity, religion, gender or sexual preference.
I can just imagine the taxi out speech to the passengers: “Thank you for choosing to fly United Airlines today, our captain is not the best pilot we could hire and they have only had a few minor incidents in their career, but everyone survived each time. So sit back, make sure to fasten your seatbelts securely and stay in your assigned seat for the duration of the flight. This way, if something DOES happen (again) because our pilot isn’t all that good, it will make identification a little bit easier.”

I haven’t flown UA for years and definitely will not anytime in the future as it appears they do not care if one makes it to the ground SAFELY!!! Lessee if I got this right – 60% of the population is WHITE, 13% is BLACK, 19% is HISPANIC with the remaining 10% distributed amongst the rest.
