Twitter is recruiting a shocking number of people from the U.S. national security state, mostly from the FBI and CIA. Why is Twitter hiring a large number of people from the intelligence community?
According to the report, Twitter has been openly collaborating with the FBI to determine which accounts to suppress, shadow ban, and delete. If you weren’t concerned about censorship at Twitter already, the new information will certainly catch your attention.
Twitter assures everyone that they are hiring FBI agents because they need the cyber security help for things like detecting hackers and blocking bad actors.
But there’s also a potential dark side, as the people in charge of the most secretive information in our nation are increasingly working with the same platform Americans use for everyday interactions.
That’s a lot of potential influence to control, and that has some people who have noticed the trend increasingly concerned about censorship issues on social media. This isn’t just about a few accounts; this could be something that controls major portions of internet communication.

This kind of censoring and other control of information will continue until Congress gets out of the 19th century and into the 21st and starts creating legislation regarding the collection of electronic data and its disposition. The best way to deal with the problem of censoring is to declare that hate speech is only such if you can prove hatred, and nothing not in violation of FCC morality laws can be banned. Along with that, move defamation of character, libel, and slander out from under the civil courts and put them under the criminal courts. Once a few people, preferably the famous and/or politicians, are jailed for the crime of lying to hurt someone, people might be better behaved in what they say or write.
