White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany chastised reporters’ criticism of President Trump for tweeting about the suspicious death of then-representative Joe Scarborough’s intern in 2001.
Trump told reporters at the White House Rose Garden, “It’s a very suspicious thing, and I hope that somebody gets to the bottom of it. It would be a very good thing. As you know, there is no statute of limitations.”
Lori Klausutis was found dead the morning after she apparently fell and hit her head on then Rep Scarborough’s desk. It was later said she had an undiagnosed heart condition. At the time of Lori’s death rumors swirled around whether or not she was having an affair with Rep. Scarborough. Some had wondered if he had had a hand in her death because she threatened to out him publicly about the affair.
Timothy Klausutis urged Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey to take down Trump’s tweets saying the President was perverting the memory of his deceased wife for “perceived political gain.” Twitter said it was “deeply sorry” for any pain caused to the family but declined to remove the tweets. Since then, Twitter has begun to label Trump tweets with a “fact-check” warning.
McEnany chastised reporters for not doing their job after Trump tweeted out the conspiracy theory about Scarborough. If they had, she said, they would have found the video below. In the video then Rep Scarborough jokes about wanting to have sexual relations with an intern and joked about Lori’s death. He told all of this to shock jock Don Imus on his radio program in 2003. You can see it for yourself in the video below.
