As the establishment continues to turn on former President Donald Trump, another high profile name who once worked for the president is showing his true colors, saying he’ll do whatever it takes to stop Trump from winning in 2024.
Former National Security Advisor John Bolton who served in the Trump administration from 2018 to 2019 announced that he was planning competing against Trump for the GOP nomination in order to prevent a second Trump term.
“I’m going to seriously consider getting in,” Bolton said, adding his announcement “might be earlier than some would think.”
Prior to working in the Trump White House, Bolton served as the US Ambassador to the United Nations from 2005 to 2006.
He was fired by Trump in September 2019 after the two clashed on issues related to North Korea and Afghanistan.
“I disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions,” Trump said in a tweet announcing his firing which embarrassed the longtime diplomat.
That firing could be part of the reasoning that Bolton is desperately trying to get revenge on his former employer by seeking to challenge him in the primary, but unfortunately for Bolton he’s not nearly as popular as he thinks he is and the fact he thinks he even has a shot at defeating Trump is laughable at best.
