Trump Warns Conservatives Not to be Complacent in Upcoming Mid-Term Elections

Mid-term elections often end up being a disaster for the party in power. With the 2018 mid-terms right around the corner, Republicans in Congress are starting to brace themselves for what could be a rough result.

Speaking at CPAC, Donald Trump tried to do his part to limit the damage by warning people that unless they keep up the enthusiasm, the Democrats could take back control of Congress. In the end, enthusiasm is most-often what mid-term elections come down to. Voters whose party is in power become complacent and stay home while voters whose party is on the outside looking in are fired up and ready for change.

In 2018, Republicans can’t afford complacency. Democrats have shown zero willingness to work with Trump on even a single issue, choosing instead to obstruct everything he does to the best of their ability. If the reigns of Congress are handed back to the Democrats after the mid-term elections, you can bet that Trump will be able to accomplish very little during the remainder of his first term.

There’s a lot on the line, and Trump and the GOP are already fighting hard to fire up their base and continue the enthusiasm among conservatives that boiled over in 2016.
