As we’ve been pointing out for years, Based Campaign Trump is our very favorite version of Donald Trump. Presidential Trump is great. So is Rally Trump. But Based Campaign Trump, who we don’t get to see very often these days, is the version that delights and thrills Americans while giving them a sense of empowerment against the nasty elites.
Based Campaign Trump walked into the lion’s den this week after he was invited to the National Association of Black Journalists. Kamala Harris, who is supposed to be super-tough, was also invited but didn’t show up. (Have you noticed that she STILL hasn’t sat down for a single gentle softball interview with her toe-sucking fans in the media?)
Trump sat down and took questions from three black lady journalists. The first one was some nasty broad from ABC News. She launched an immediate attack against him with a rude gotcha question.
That’s when Based Campaign Trump showed up. Some folks on the right complain and wonder why Trump always sits down for these hostile media interviews with people who hate him.
This. This is the reason why.
The way that Trump handles the stompy-foot mean girl from ABC News is a master class in how all Republicans should treat the media. It was absolutely glorious. He deflects all of the whiny, petulant little snot’s questions while also managing to turn it around and bash Kamala Harris.
Jesse Watters assembled the best clips from the interview, so you don’t have to sit through the whole thing:
