President Trump just dropped a political bombshell, and let’s just say—MAGA isn’t clapping.
In a move that has Trump’s base doing double takes, the president pardoned Rep. Henry Cuellar, a Texas Democrat who was hit with a laundry list of corruption charges. We’re talking bribery, conspiracy, money laundering, and acting as an agent for a foreign government. The guy was allegedly swimming in foreign cash—$600,000 to be exact—from shady oil companies and foreign banks. But Trump? He said Cuellar was innocent and the charges were just more garbage from Biden’s DOJ.
Cuellar, naturally, was thrilled. He hopped on X to thank President Trump for the pardon, calling it a “clean slate” and praising the president’s “tremendous leadership.” Yeah, that’s the same Cuellar who voted to impeach Trump back in 2021. You can’t make this stuff up.
The backlash from MAGA has been swift and brutal. Mike Cernovich, a longtime Trump supporter, didn’t hold back. “Completely disgusting,” he posted. He called for an intervention, saying, “Totally corrupt scammers are getting cases dismissed, sentences commuted—it’s totally out of control.”

And he’s not alone. One user posted a screenshot of Cuellar’s impeachment vote and said, “I’m baffled.” Another shouted, “He’s a crook. Big mistake.” Even Trump’s pardon of David Gentile, a former investor who ran a $1.6 billion scam, raised eyebrows. Gentile served just 12 days in prison. Twelve. Days.
The White House press secretary defended the move, saying Gentile’s case was another example of Biden’s weaponized DOJ. But that explanation isn’t cutting it with Trump’s base. Not even close.
This isn’t just about pardons. It’s about trust. And right now, a big chunk of Trump’s supporters are wondering if their guy is going soft on the swamp.
