Trump Flips the Script on Minnesota Sanctuary Policy

So the Left thought they had Trump boxed in. Again. Minnesota’s liberal leaders—Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey—basically dared him to crack down on their sanctuary state nonsense. And when Trump made a move that looked like he was backing off, the usual suspects jumped up and shouted, “He caved!”

They clearly haven’t read *The Art of the Deal*.

According to Glenn Beck—and he nailed it—Trump didn’t surrender. He reloaded.

This wasn’t a retreat. It was a tactical maneuver. Trump didn’t call off ICE, he didn’t apologize, and he sure didn’t stop enforcing immigration law. What he actually did was shift the battlefield, outflank the Left, and make them own their insanity.

Let’s break it down. Trump narrowed the focus of enforcement. Instead of going after every illegal on the streets—which the media could spin into some big scary federal overreach—he said, “Fine. Just hand over the ones *already in prison* for rape, murder, and trafficking.”

That’s it. That’s the ask. And now Frey and Walz have to explain why they won’t even do that.

Trump just forced them into a corner. If they refuse, they’re defending violent criminals. If they comply, they admit Trump was right.

And to make the move cleaner, he even rotated out a Border Patrol commander who had become a lightning rod for left-wing attacks. That took the media’s made-up “Gestapo” narrative and flushed it. No more distractions. No more excuses.

This is classic Trump. Don’t fight on your enemy’s turf. Don’t play their game. Change the rules, pick your ground, and make *them* pay the political cost.

So no—he didn’t cave. He cornered them.
