Lopsided trade deals made by previous administrations have been a massive wealth transfer from the US to our “allies” overseas. Americans have been getting poorer for decades because of these deals, even as the supposedly beneficial “free trade” concept has gutted our manufacturing base.
These other countries all know they’ve been cheating us, which is why President Donald Trump is able to renegotiate deals to favor America so easily. Last weekend, Trump announced a massive new trade deal had been negotiated with the European Union.
The EU will be sending more than $2 trillion into the US over the next three years in the form of new investments, energy, and military purchases, in exchange for nothing. Plus, they’ll pay a 15% tariff on top of that, while American companies pay no tariffs for doing business in Europe.
As if that wasn’t amazing enough, Trump announced a similar deal with South Korea a couple of days later. South Korea will invest $150 billion into shipbuilding in the US, pay a 15% tariff on everything, and purchase $100 billion in American energy (LNG). South Korea gets nothing in exchange for this deal!
Does everyone realize what this means? Our previous leaders in the Bush, Clinton, Obama, and Biden administrations deliberately impoverished us. They did it on purpose. Any other leader could have gotten deals like this for the US if they had wanted to.
