White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, one of President Donald Trump’s closest advisers, delivered a blunt assessment of today’s Democratic Party in a Fox News interview this week: it is no longer a political party but “an extremist organization.”
Miller’s charge was not made lightly. He argued that Democrats have abandoned any pretense of representing law-abiding citizens and instead devote their energy to shielding criminals and illegal aliens from accountability.
“A political party represents Americans, law-abiding citizens,” Miller said. “What you see all day long are Democrats screeching on television on behalf of foreign terrorists, hardened criminals, and violent illegal aliens. It’s a party dedicated to protecting gang members, murderers, and predators.”
He zeroed in on sanctuary city mayors, who ignored federal deadlines to hand over dangerous offenders to federal authorities. “The Justice Department was clear: comply with federal law or face consequences. These cities—Boston among them—refused to turn over child rapists, child predators, drug traffickers, and human traffickers,” Miller said.
According to Miller, that refusal does not simply mean the loss of federal funds. It raises the prospect of criminal liability for those who harbor or shield individuals who pose a direct threat to public safety. “This is as real as it gets,” he added.
The clash between the Trump administration and sanctuary city leaders is now reaching a decisive moment. Miller’s remarks suggest the administration is preparing to escalate its legal fight against local officials who, in his words, are placing the interests of violent criminals over the safety of American families.
