Gary Franchi of The Next News Network reports that conservatives gave the latest ‘Defund the Police’ street mural a new look by changing just one letter.
Protestors in Milwaukee had painted “DEFUND THE POLICE” in huge letters on Water Street in front of City Hall. After demonstrators altered the mural, the City of Dept. of Public Works announced they would remove it due to, “‘Serious traffic safety concerns have come to light as a result of the painted protest message on North Water Street.”
But Bobby Tanzlino of Milwaukee’s WSLIN reports that Black Lives Matter protestors painted the mural on July 1, but it wasn’t until counter-protestors altered it on July 10 that Commissioner of Public Works Jeff Polenske said in the statement:
The message painted on Water Street has been heard loud and clear by policy makers in city government, and the Department of Public Works has no intention to diminish the voices calling for change … Our concern for unauthorized street art including the current mural on Water Street is solely about safety.
It wasn’t until conservative altered the mural that city officials claimed they had the mural removed because, “the paint is very slick when wet.”
