In order for human beings to flourish they need to feel useful, to serve a higher and nobler purpose than service to pleasure or simple ambition. Implicit in the American dream is the feeling of being of service to one’s community, to flourish as a result of that service, and to pass on the values that make that service meaningful to the next generation.
In order for people to have all of these things, they require freedom. They require the freedom to think for themselves, to speak freely, and to have their right to keep the fruits of their labor respected and to use their earnings as they see fit.
For years now, the so-called political elite has abandoned any semblance of respect for these basic human rights. The United States is the only country on Earth that has ever respected these rights. That is what made America great, and that is what will make America great again.
The election of Donald Trump represents a critical mass in frustration of people who only want the right to work toward prosperity. It represents a tipping point where the driving force of the American economy- the working middle class- is fed up with having their right to work ripped away from them, fed up with being called names by phony Hollywood millionaires, fed up with being looked down on by people who never worked a day in their lives.
