Pop singer Taylor Swift disappointed millions of her fans this month when she endorsed Kamala Harris for president. Swift is best known for singing about the horrible choices she makes in life and how she’s a terrible judge of character, so it does make sense that she’d endorse Kamala. However, she broke the golden rule of entertainers in this day and age, which is the shut-up-and-sing rule.
Following that endorsement, Swift lost a quarter of a million followers on social media. Her marketing and branding agency had to create a ton of bots just to artificially prop her numbers up again. (This is the same marketing agency that has scheduled Taylor’s breakup from her fake relationship with that NFL player for September 28th, so mark your calendars for that.)
The endorsement also doesn’t seem to have helped Kamala Harris. About 9% of Taylor Swift fans say they’re more likely to vote for Harris because of the endorsement. However, 20% of Swift fans say they’re now less likely to vote for Harris. Oops.
It will take a while before we know the full impact on Swift’s fan base because of her boneheaded decision to wade into politics. In the meantime, Swift is being introduced to something that has never happened to her before in her career: widespread mockery from white women.
TikTok and Twitter/X have been blowing up with the perfect response to Taylor’s endorsement of Kamala Harris:
It’s widely reported that approximately 70% of all Taylor Swifts fans (also know as Swifties) have ditched both & Taylor the crazy Left Wing Lunatics in favour of supporting Trump pic.twitter.com/CxDWikAJYf
