When did scientific research become so divorced from ethics? You probably saw the viral news this week that a group of psychopathic scientists have managed to genetically resurrect dire wolves. That’s just what we need in America: apex predators the size of horses running around!
Dire wolves were a form of megafauna that went extinct many years ago, along with woolly mammoths and saber-toothed tigers and other big things. Why anyone would think it’s a good idea to de-extinct these monsters is baffling.
The pair of male dire wolves is supposedly being kept in a secret, 2,000-acre wooded area.
Based on that information, we can already tell you the next two things that are going to happen with these beasts. First, one of them will escape from captivity or a female grey wolf will wander onto the property. They’ll mate and then the much larger and even more dangerous offspring will be loose in the world.
Second, these new dire wolves will be hunting whatever they feel like, including human beings. This is literally the dumbest thing we’ve seen scientists do since they made everyone tape arrows on the floor at Walmart to prevent COVID. Except it’s much more dangerous.
‘Jurassic Park’ was supposed to be a cautionary tale that warned scientists not to do stupid things like resurrecting extinct apex predators.
Here’s Joe Rogan excitedly interviewing one of the mad scientists about this incredibly stupid accomplishment that will likely get people killed:
