What are the leading platforms of the Democratic Party? They want to raise minimum wage. They want more restrictions on gun ownership. They want more abortion — so much so that they want it to be free and fully accessible even after birth. They want to tax corporations into oblivion and deliberately destroy record unemployment numbers across the board.
It’s important to remember that every single one of these policies is rooted and steeped in racism. Minimum wage was instituted because freed slaves were too competitive in the labor market. By raising the lowest legal wage, white workers were able to push black workers out of jobs. Gun control originated for similar reasons. It would be hard to enforce Jim Crow laws against an armed black population. As for abortion, the original purpose for legalizing it was eugenics. This is all well-documented history.
The Democrats have thoroughly tested the theory that lying often and loudly enough can fool the masses. We can now see that the method has limits. Black Americans are finally getting a chance to thrive in this country, and they’re fully aware that it didn’t happen under the leadership of Barack Obama.
