The Real Wage Gap Number Revealed

According to data published by so-called fact-based sources, the wage gap between men and women stands at about 20 percent. But big questions remain about how these research studies arrive at their numbers and are they accurate?

Take for example Pew Research’s claim that women earned only 82 percent of what their male counterparts did in 2017. That statistic was actually considered an improvement over 2016 when women took home only 80 percent of what men earned. Although this has been a popular political talking point, does the data really hold water?

On this Daily Wire segment, host Ben Shapiro sits down with the well know “Factual Feminist” Christina Hoff Sommers to break down the wage gap in a more detailed fashion. Sommers, a credible feminist scholar, brings to light how wage gap statistics are conveniently manipulated to gloss over relevant factors that would otherwise cut the perceived pay disparity.

Sommers runs off a veritable laundry list of factors that lead to differences in pay. One would expect that more men favoring fields such as engineering over early childhood education would play a role in earning capacity. Well, it does. But these are the types of issues that big data and liberal feminists are willing to set aside to arrive at the numbers they like.

If you want to find out true facts about wages, this Daily Wire video won’t disappoint you.
