Viral videos have been going around on social media which show that the terrifying Artificial Intelligence-dominated future that many of us feared, is ALREADY HERE!
These videos feature incredibly convincing fake media reports which were created entirely using artificial intelligence and look pretty much indiscernible from what a real news report might look like.
Viral videos circulating on social media show incredibly convincing, but fake, media reports fabricated entirely using artificial intelligence.
One scene features a reporter standing in what appears to be a flood disaster and introducing herself like real news anchor would, before confessing, “just kidding, I’m not real.”
Another similar scene features a breaking news reporter standing on a beach reporting live, when a UFO emerges from the ocean and she admits, “just kidding, I’m not real,” and another fake video shows a reporter standing on the beach as a giant sea creature emerges from it.
What’s most terrifying about videos is how you really can’t tell that they’re fake until the AI reporter comes out and tells you that they are.
And why does this matter? Well this means that the technology has now progressed so much so that it is impossible to distinguish real-world events from fake AI footage.
While the videos discussed in this article might be so outlandish that they are obviously fake, what happens when this tech is used to impersonate world leaders and make it seem like they said something…when really they didn’t?
