Ted Cruz Breaks the Internet with Nancy Pelosi Imitation

Senator Cruz (R- TX) was in a far better mood after the Senate voted last week 51-49 to block the efforts of Democrats to call new witnesses to the trial. While talking with some fellow Republicans during recess, Cruz smiled and gave a not-so-subtle clap.

That simple gesture resembled one made by Nancy Pelosi at the State of the Union address in 2019 which many described as a “condescending” clap toward President Trump.

When Pelosi threatened to delay forwarding President Trump’s impeachment to the Senate last December, Cruz let the Speaker know he was not impressed. He said at the time, “Her threat to the Senate is: Do exactly what I want or I’m not going to impeach the president, I’m not going to send over the impeachment article … My attitude is, OK, throw us in that briar patch. Don’t send them. That’s all right. We actually have work to do.”

When Pelosi finally gave the green light for House Managers to present their case to the Senate, Cruz mocked her repeated claim that President Trump would be “impeached forever,” by saying that when the Senate was through with the trial, Trump will be “acquitted forever of these bogus charges.”

We now know that Senator Cruz had the last laugh on that one.
