A Virginia English teacher has been criticized for a video that called basic skills like following directions and sitting quietly a form of white supremacy.
Josh Thompson, a white English teacher at Blacksburg High School in Blacksburg, Virginia, said, “I stated that ‘PBIS is white supremacy with a hug,’ and a lot of y’all wanted to know more about that, so, here we go,” Thompson said in the video.
“What are those positive behaviors? And it’s things like making sure that you’re following directions, making sure that you’re sitting quietly, and you are in your seat, and all these things that come from white culture,” Thompson added.
“The idea of just sitting quiet and being told stuff and taking things in in a passive stance is not a thing that’s in with many cultures. So, if we’re positively enforcing these behaviors, we are, by extension, positively enforcing elements of white culture, which, therefore, keeps whiteness at the center, which is the definition of white supremacy,” he said.
This isn’t Thompson’s first controversial video. Breitbart News posted several other examples of this teacher’s outrageous beliefs. Thompson has said things like encouraging students to behave is white supremacy and that, “Whiteness is a racial ideology.”
The school system spoke out against the video and it has now been deleted. But this response is not enough for many who have been angered over the claims. How this teacher is not losing his job is, for many, downright shocking. You have to see it to believe it in the latest video featuring the woke culture of the nation.

In my opinion teachers that say standardized tests are saying that non whites aren’t smart enough to pass them, but thinking like that isn’t racist…..is it?

Wonder what would happen if education would go back to neighborhood schools, teachers be tested to see if they even like kids and are up to the job. What if they went back to not passing a child to the next grade unless they passed the work in the current grade? What if a child that was having trouble in a certain area was expected to stay after the school day for remedial training? With bussing some children would not have a way to get home. Stop bussing! It seems to me that the neighborhood schools would give parents more ability to know what is happening with their children.
It appears to me that the experiment of moving children out of their home area and comfort zone has been a failure.
The powers that be need to stop building new costly buildings, take care of the older buildings that the have, hire better teachers, and concentrate on better educating the children. It isn’t color, it’s opportunity to learn and good teachers with parental interest and help.

Encouraging students to follow directions is a fundamental skill. What happens if a construction worker does not follow directions? Enforcing standards of behavior allows students with a desire for knowledge to excel. We need absolute standards for every subject at every grade after kindergarten and no exceptions you pass end of course tests are you do not advance! Your response was great! Do away with all the perks in after school programs. No movies, concerts, snacks these are things my parents pprovided, and no I was not rich, dad died my fifth grade year. I managed to graduate cum laude. These kids need discipline at home and at school.

As a person of color, I had a fine education sitting still, being respectful, and, surprise! was one of the top students in my all-non-minority-except-for-me neighborhood school. I’d welcome the opportunity to get into his face (privately) and tell him what a racist he is. He knows that if we allow students to be culturally isolated (that is, disrespectful and disruptive, if that’s what you consider minorities to be) it’ll be tough for them to be as successful as they deserve to be in corporate America. You’re doing them a disservice. There’s a reason minorities are called that–majority rules! If you don’t think the rules apply because you’re a minority, for the time being it’s a (sort of) free country–you can relocate. Unfortunately many of these so called teachers have taken too many social issued courses and not enough STEM. They are not educated to be effective teachers, many of them only activists. Look at the statistical analysis of our standing in the world. we are being surpassed by many nations. Parents need to hold the school boards and teachers accountable. We all are paying the teachers’ salaries. We need to break up the power of the Teacher unions, fight for our children’s’ and grandchildren’s education. the next generation will need to compete with the world for the best jobs and incomes to support the quality of life they want to live.
