Marvel actor Simu Liu is throwing a full-blown Hollywood tantrum—and this one’s all about race. The “Shang-Chi” star is demanding that studios “put some Asians in literally anything right now,” because apparently, casting based on talent isn’t as important as checking the right diversity box.
Liu posted a collage of fellow Asian actors crying foul over not getting lead roles, then ranted that “the amount of backslide in our representation onscreen is f**king appalling.” He claims the film industry is “deeply prejudiced” and that “most days it SUCKS.” Charming.
Here’s the kicker: Liu insists no Asian actor has ever lost a studio $100 million, while “a white dude will lose 200 million TWICE and roll right into the next tentpole lead.” Sounds like someone’s mad that race-based hiring isn’t going his way fast enough.
Simu Liu says Asian representation in Hollywood remains "f*cking appalling."

What Liu fails to mention? Hollywood’s been bending over backwards for years trying to satisfy diversity quotas. And yet, here we are—still being told it’s never enough. You’d think starring in a Marvel blockbuster that raked in over $400 million would be a career high point. But no, Liu wants more. More roles, more outrage, more identity politics.
Hollywood director Robby Starbuck wasn’t having it. He pointed out the obvious: “Almost none [of China’s actors] are White. Is that some kind of unfair prejudice too? No, it’s not.” Mic drop.
About 99% of actors in films made on mainland China are Asian. Almost none are White. Is that some kind of unfair prejudice too? No, it’s not. It makes sense because most of the market viewing them are Asian too. People need to stop whining. https://t.co/uSZfgm3B1p

Online reactions weren’t exactly warm and fuzzy either. One Asian commenter nailed it: “Representation does not matter. Good stories matter. The right casting for the roles matter. Good acting matters.” Imagine that—merit over race.
Meanwhile, Liu’s Threads page got flooded with a chorus of “Yaaas, king!” from liberal activists who apparently think Hollywood still lives in 1983.
