Free speech is important. When a young child calls another child by their actual gender instead of their make-believe gender, that honesty shouldn’t be punished. Laws about hate speech are dangerous at best. You know this. Sometimes, the shoe is on the other foot. As much as we all hate hearing stupid socialist rhetoric, the right to say stupid things still needs to be protected.
We just successfully distinguished between the right and the left. Conservatives consistently fight for the rights of people who disagree with them. Liberals don’t want you to be allowed to speak. This fundamental difference is why it’s so delicious when liberals work themselves into an ironic trap.
That was the case when a fundraiser for a Democratic Senator featured a little skit of someone assassinating President Trump. On the right, we would call that distasteful, but we wouldn’t try to have the speech silenced. On the left, they tried to blame a bunch of non-violent rhetoric for a mass shooting. After that, they can either condemn their own Senator or wallow in hypocrisy.
When you watch this video, you’ll see a lot of both. This seems like a stupid case of someone making a reckless decision, but this really is a microcosm of the division that is destroying the left. Remember that context when you watch the video. What happened here is happening everywhere.
