A massive water crisis is headed for America as our complicit leadership does nothing to stop foreign countries from quite literally sucking us dry of our water reserves.
In the state of Arizona, they have been plagued by what experts say is the worst drought in more than 1,000 years – leading to mandatory water cuts as the state looks to preserve what it can of the vital fluid.
However, as the crisis intensifies in Arizona, they continue to allow foreign companies to take as much water as they want – for free.
Arizona is leasing farmland to a Saudi water company, Fondomonte, which is allowed to freely pump as much water as they want from Arizona’s aquifers after the middle eastern country exhausted its own water supply.
While restricting their own resident’s ability to use water, Arizona’s groundwater is unregulated and the Saudis are robbing the state dry.
Fondomonte water cost is only $25 per acre annually, while the market rate is twice that, at $50 per acre.
Even though there are no records indicating how much Fondomonte is actually pumping out of the aquifer, a State Land Department report estimates the company is taking as much as 18,000 acre-feet every year – enough water to supply 54,000 single-family homes, with a value ranging from $3 -$4 million.
Saudi Arabian companies have been searching around the globe for a country dumb enough to let them have their vital water supplies – and it looks like the U.S. has become just that.
