Throughout the presidential campaign, Hillary Clinton constantly said Donald Trump never paid federal income taxes. She pounded on this drum repeatedly, although it ultimately did not prove to matter as Americans voted for an individual they believed would deliver jobs, regardless of what sort of taxes they paid.
However, in a recent MSNBC exclusive, the left leaning news station discovered Donald Trump did in fact pay taxes. According to the 2005 tax return it obtained, Trump paid tens of millions of dollars, shelling over 25 percent of his entire income in federal taxes, despite the ability to claim a large number of write offs, deductions and net loses.
Most Americans would admit everyone should pay their fair shares in taxes. While nobody likes paying taxes, the understanding of what taxes go to pay for makes it necessary.
Despite all of this, there are many in the Democratic Party who believe some Americans should pay far more in taxes than others. One such believer is Bernie Sanders.
Bernie Sanders is a lifelong politician, a U.S. senator from Vermont. A senator makes an annual salary of $174,000. When adding on book deals and speaking engagements, Bernie makes several times more than the base Senator salary.
Despite making a substantial amount more than what the average American makes, he actually pays a substantial amount less than what the average American pays percentage wise. How much exactly does Bernie pay? Check out the video to find out.
