Former Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard revealed that the recall of San Francisco’s radical district attorney, Chesa Boudin, is proof that Democrat voters are waking up to the harms of liberalism.
Even one of the nation’s most liberal cities, San Francisco, could no longer tolerate the rampant crime and shoplifting it has been experiencing under its current leadership. The lack of policing, lack of pressing charges for a wide variety of crimes, elimination of cash bail, and the overall backlash against law enforcement has now backfired in a move that could spread to other communities that have advocated defunding the police.
Yes, even liberal cities have their limits when it comes to public safety. New York City experienced this as well when Eric Adams won as a Democrat pushing for tougher law enforcement, not less. That the empty suit mayor hasn’t squelched the violence at all is another story for another time.
Most Democrats have not made a 180 turn from defunding the police after Biden’s State of the Union address, but the movement still has its supporters.
