Michael Sussman is the latest loose thread of the Hilary Clinton campaign’s tapestry of lies and deception that first tried to steal the 2016 election and then was used to undermine President Trump’s transition and term of office.
Special Counsel John Durham and his team of investigators want to introduce evidence in Sussman’s trial for lying to the FBI that could be a direct link to Hillary Clinton’s role in the bogus “Russian collusion” mess.
Sussman’s trial is set for May 16. The former Clinton campaign lawyer was clearly a conduit of a false report on Donald Trump. The defense team is desperate to exclude evidence of a “strong intersection” between Hillary Clinton and the opposition research by ex-British intelligence agent Christopher Steele.
Steele’s bogus allegations attempting to tie Donald Trump to a Russian bank blew up in Sussman’s face when he passed them on to the FBI. Sussman told agents that he was only being a good citizen and had no ulterior motives. He forgot to tell agents that he was actually being paid by the Clinton campaign.
It’s all in Sussman’s own words. Investigators presented a text message from Sussman to FBI investigators with a statement, “I’m coming on my own—not on behalf of a client or company—want to help the Bureau…”
Sussman’s defense team wants no part of the sleazy Steele report now that it can be used against their client. They rightly claim that “it would be prejudicial.”
It would be prejudicial because the dossier was bought and paid for by Hillary’s campaign and funded by the Democratic National Committee as well as law firm Perkins-Coie.
The defense team was more successful in blocking Hillary Clinton’s tweets alleging Trump collusion. The trial judge denied Durham’s request to allow Hillary’s lies based on other lies to be admitted into evidence.
