Rep Matt Gaetz Nukes Democrat Witness Impeachment Inquiry Hearing

Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz used his five minutes of questioning during a session of the impeachment inquiry to a nuke an array of leftist scholars.

Among the scholars he questioned were Jonathan Turley (George Washington University Law School), Noah Feldman (Harvard Law School), Michael Gerhardt (University of North Carolina School of Law), and Pamela S. Karlan (Stanford Law School).

During his questioning, Gaetz observed that Karlan had previously given $1,200 to Barack Obama, $2,000 to Hillary Clinton, and $1,000 to Elizabeth Warren. Karlan didn’t dispute the Congressman’s facts but noted she had a constitutional right protected by the First Amendment to give money to candidates.

Gaetz then asked Karlan if she had ever appeared at an event affiliated with the podcast, Versus Trump. In that podcast Karlan noted that liberals tend to reside close together, like in cities, while conservative are more spread out geographically. She then said, “Perhaps because they don’t even want to be around themselves.”

When Gaetz asked if her comment reflected contempt of the people who are conservative, she said no. However, her words and actions say yes.

Turley showed the only sign of common sense when he said, “I get it … Will a slipshod impeachment … invite an invitation for the madness to follow in every future administration? That is why this is wrong.”
