What’s wrong with open borders? The U.S. is a land of plenty. Surely, if you care about people at all, you should want to welcome immigrants from all walks. They can share in the American dream and we can make the whole world great!
You’ve heard this rhetoric, and if it was mathematically sound, it might not be so dangerous. If America really did have enough resources to take in every immigrant and refugee in the world, we’d probably consider it. The problem is that we are nowhere near that wealthy. Or organized.
Unchecked immigration drains resources and reverses progress. This all boils down to a world that the left views as heinous: profitability. Rather than a measure of greed or corruption, profitability is a measure of sustainability. Illegal immigration reduces profitability in every sector, and it makes it harder for the U.S. to sustain the kind of growth that has helped half the population of the world leave poverty over the last 20 years.
Open borders would push that drain to an extreme. If America doesn’t create profits, then everything falls into decline. Instead of seeing more and more prosperity across the planet, open borders would only lead to massive starvation everywhere. It’s important to remember simple math and cause and effect when you hear the “nice” ideas from the left. It takes a constant reminder to guard against their insidiousness.
So, with that in mind, watch this video and be reminded what is at stake every day. Let the words of our President sober you to the dangers we face if we don’t stay active and vote this November.
