A recent HarrisX poll shows that a majority of those who have been following the story closely believe Tara Reade’s allegations that then-Senator Joe Biden sexually assaulted her in the basement halls of a Congressional building.
While respondents were close to evenly split on whether Biden is guilty of what Reade accused him of, a majority believe Biden should remove himself from the race against President Trump.
Another poll conducted by YouGov showed that:
When Biden voters are asked whom they expect to win, more than a quarter say they don’t know … Many voters —even those who say they will vote for Biden — [are] dubious about his ability to win in November.
On the other hand, “Nearly all the president’s supporters expect him to be re-elected.” More importantly, a growing number of independents believe Trump will be reelected.
Biden told MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell this week that he doesn’t remember Reade but any woman who comes forward with claims of sexual harassment “should be taken seriously.” When O’Donnell asked Biden what women who believe Read’s allegations should do, he replied, “If they believe Tara Reade, they probably shouldn’t vote for me.”
The HarrisX polls showed that 30 percent of Democrats believe the sexual assault accusations against Joe Biden are true. There’s one to ponder.
