If you ever wondered what happens when clueless politicians try to win young voters with TikTok trends—they crash, burn, and embarrass themselves along the way. Case in point: Rep. Jasmine Crockett, Democrat from Texas, just dropped a video so cringe-worthy it deserves its own genre—“Boomers Trying to Be Cool on the Internet.”
In the now-viral clip, Crockett joins Michigan’s Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist, who’s running for governor after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer termed out, in a painfully awkward lip-sync of a TikTok mashup. The audio blends 2 Non Blondes’ “What’s Up?” with Nicki Minaj’s “Beez in the Trap.” Sounds like a mess? It is. The video is captioned, “POV you’re about to elect Michigan’s first Black Governor.” Bold strategy—let’s see how many votes he gets from dancing next to a Congresswoman who thinks TikTok is a campaign platform.
The internet was not impressed. X (formerly Twitter) lit up like a Christmas tree with users calling out the video as “cringe,” “desperate,” and “what happens when your party has no actual ideas left.” Because when inflation is hurting families, the southern border is a mess, and crime is out of control, the Democrats want to distract you with a rap video.
Not everyone thinks Crockett’s a disaster. Charlamagne tha God—yes, the same guy who once said Biden “ain’t doing nothing for Black people”—claims Crockett is the Democrats’ “most effective messenger.” His words, not ours. He praised her for being “on message” and said she has a “different anointing” on her. Whatever that means.
Unfortunately for Charlamagne–and Rep. Crockett–not everyone thinks she’s all that. The internet was quick to comment on the Congresswoman’s attempt to connect to Gen Z.

This is the same Congresswoman who once called Trump “Hitler” and got famous for hurling insults at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Let’s be honest: if this is the best the Democrats have to offer, they’re in bigger trouble than we thought.
