Gavin Newsom has achieved what many thought impossible: he’s managed to outrage both sides of the aisle with a single misguided comment. The Governor of California, known for his slick hair and even slicker tongue, recently likened his struggles with a low SAT score to the experiences of Black Americans. In a cringe-worthy attempt to connect with Black voters, Newsom pandered to them by saying he was just as dumb as they were.
Sean Hannity, the conservative commentator who needs no introduction, was quick to pounce on Newsom’s soft racism.

Newsom responded not with an apology, but with a profanity-laced tirade against Hannity. Because, you know, that’s how you win hearts and minds—by cursing out your critics on X.

Newsom’s defensive outburst included a reference to previous controversial comments by former President Trump, attempting to draw a false equivalence and deflect the backlash. But really, Governor, is that the best you’ve got? Blaming others while ignoring the fact that your own comment was just plain wrong?

Twitter users, as they do, piled on. One user called Newsom the “racist Governor of CA,” while another mocked him for being the Democrats’ “best hope” after his political drubbing by DeSantis. Ouch. It seems like Newsom’s attempt to connect with voters has backfired spectacularly.

In the end, Newsom’s desperate and defensive response only highlights his vulnerability. Instead of acknowledging his mistake, he doubled down, and the internet isn’t letting him forget it anytime soon.
And then this happened when reporters asked Newsom’s team for more information on his “condition” that reportedly makes him so dumb he’s just like Black people…
