One outlet did a survey of people at Uhaul. In that survey of seven people, four said that they were moving to a new place in the city — not leaving altogether. So, you can clearly see that New York is fine. People aren’t leaving in droves at all.
Looking past the media nonsense, it’s clear that the time of New York is passed. There are more than 70,000 new apartment vacancies in the city. Roughly 400,000 people have permanently left the city so far this year, and that’s likely to continue at an accelerated pace as Mayor Bill de Blasio promises new taxes and continued draconian lockdown measures.
