MSNBC Forces Reporter Chris Matthews to Apologize to Bernie Sanders

MSNBC host Chris Matthews was forced to apologize to Democratic Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont for comparing the results of the Nevada caucus with the fall of France to the Nazi’s in World War II.

Writing for Fox News, Ben Shapiro observes there are much worse things Matthews could have said about Sanders — all based in truth.

Sanders resolutely defended communist dictator Fidel Castro in the 1980s saying he was “physically nauseated” by former President John F. Kennedy’s “hatred for the Cuban revolution.” He said after visiting Cuba in 1989, “I did not see a hungry child. I did not see any homeless people.”

Rather than blaming it on a youthful mistake, Sanders defended his praise for Castro’s literacy program on 60 Minutes last Sunday when he said, “We’re very opposed to the authoritarian nature of Cuba, but you know, it’s unfair to simply say everything is bad. … When Fidel Castro came into office, you know what he did? He had a massive literacy program. Is that a bad thing, even though Fidel Castro did it?”

The truth is that Sanders has hardly met a single communist regime in the last 50 years that he didn’t admire. There have been no calls from the media for Matthews failing to call his hand for that.
